Backpack Donation to Baby Buggy

Wyatt Lily kicked off Back to School with the donation of 100 backpacks – and we asked for your help in recommending worthy charities, schools or religious organizations that would make excellent use of these ultra-important school supplies. And now… we have an announcement! Owner/founder (and Mom to Wyatt!) Rachel Uchitel is donating 50 backpacks to Baby Buggy. This national non-profit provides clothing, services and other essentials to needy families and children up to age 14. So it was a perfect fit!

The backpacks (sturdy, kid-approved Rocket Packs by Babiators) will be donated to Baby Buggy’s partner sites focused on early education—primarily the Early Head Start, Head Start, and Fatherhood programs. Tuesday, Sept. 16th is “Dads Take Your Child to School” day. The engaging day encourages fathers to continue to remain as dedicated and actively involved as possible in their children’s education, despite financial limitation or limited resources from unemployment or underemployment. In honor of this inspiring Dads Take Your Child to School day, many of the 50 backpacks from Wyatt Lily are being donated to children whose fathers participate in this wonderful program.

Babiators Rocket Packs are safe and sturdy for kids of all ages—even Wyatt herself uses the hot pink and camo ones! The packs have padded straps and tons of pockets for everything from snacks to school supplies to sports equipment, making them fun and useful for both education and playtime. The durable material means a child could get many years of wear out of this one donation. So Rachel chose these packs as the store’s Back-to-School donation without thinking twice.

The remaining 50 backpacks will soon be donated to another organization. We’re still deciding – if you have any additional ideas, let us know in the comments below!

And please consider donating time, money, or gear to Baby Buggy. They are such an amazing organization that fights so hard to help the children and families who need it the most.

Rachel's Pick: Tady Tote

By Abby Tegnelia | September 22, 2014

We are newly obsessed with the clever, adorable Tady Tote and couldn’t wait one more minute to share it with you! The chic tote (the most stylish of diaper bags) unfolds like a picnic blanket, uncovering all your child’s favorite toys, books and accessories for easy play. And when you’re done, it all folds right back up – easiest clean-up ever!
Being busy New York women on the move, Wyatt and I took ours to the park over the weekend and had a wonderful afternoon playing in the late summer sun. The fabric has water-resistant coating to guard against damp grass, and the mat is as thick as a comforter.

There are four styles, and all are really beautiful. My pick? The pastel pink cammo, which goes with everything. There is also a mocha-colored brown one with swirls, sea foam and brown bubbles, and pink and brown flowers. Love this color scheme! I use my bag for our day-to-day tote, because I love it so much – even if we’re not going to be using the blanket feature that day.

The indoor-outdoor comfy teddy bear blanket is perfect for playdates, trips to the park (like we love!), keeping little ones occupied at family events, and baby tummy time. Its versatility means your child won’t grow out of it so quickly – it’s an infant sleep mat and toddler playdate carry-all in one.

The entire tote is machine washable, and the teddy bear blanket removes for easy laundering. In fact, the blanket on its own is perfect for snuggling on the couch with family.
The creator of the Tady Tote, Sharon Soloway, is an active mother of two. Surprised? Us either! I’m enamored – choosing her product for my first Rachel’s Pick was a no-brainer.

Call me today to order this wonderful Tady Tote – we ship! 212-580-5459

You’re invited to come join the fun for an in-store American Girl Doll Party event on Saturday, October 11! The all-day bash will be full of girly fun, dress-up time, and lots of shopping. Wyatt Lily always carries retail lines that are trendy and fashionable for young girls – and for this event, we are partnering with one of our very favorites, the hugely popular Little Gloriana.

American Girl dolls are such a beloved part of many of our childhoods, and Little Gloriana has created itself in a similar vein. The independent designer crafts dresses that fit those treasured dolls, along with Little Gloriana clothing for young girls. One of its best-sellers are the “Mini Me” collection sets, featuring two pieces: one girl outfit and the matching set for her doll. So make sure your daughter brings hers to our event! The “Mini Me” sets come in everything from simple, everyday playwear to its popular Twirling dresses and casual styles modeled after Disney movie characters – including Elsa! The clothing is available in girl’s sizes 4-6, and fits dolls that are 15 and 18 inches.

Our all-day trunk show will feature the top accessories, clothing, shoes and dresses of the moment by Little Gloriana, showcasing an array of patterns, designs and colors to fit any personality. Pieces from the “Mini Me” collection will also be on hand, so girls can truly play dress up — for themselves and their dolls! Pint-sized Wyatt Lily shoppers even have the chance to purchase those Elsa dresses just in time for Halloween. She will be the envy of all her friends!

The first Little Gloriana trunk show was a huge success, and Wyatt Lily will definitely be holding more of these events for fashionable mother-daughter bonding time.

Stay tuned for more information coming soon about Glam Mom’s trunk show the following weekend!
